Mobs – short for mobiles[1] – consists of peaceful or hostile creatures, generally spawned randomly in the game world depending on lighting, height and spawning block conditions. Some of them may drop more or less precious items.

They are not part of Minetest Game and are currently only available through Mods.

Mods that add mobs

  • Critters [critters] adds 2d comic or manga like characters 46 animals, 38 characters, 4 fluffy critters and 25 furbies.
  • CUTE CUBIC MOBS [ccmobs] adds, well. cubic mobs of the type chicken, cow, nyan cat, pig, rabbit and sheep. Beware, very cubic.
  • Goblins [goblins Adds goblins each with to populate caves and cause havoc in the mines.
  • herobrine mod [herobrine mod] adds a herobrine
  • Mob Spawn Eggs [spawneggs] Adds spawn eggs for simple_mobs.
  • Mobsplus and Edited Areas (modpack) [mobsplusareas-mp] Combines elements of Simple Mobs, KPGMobs and Zeg's Mobs. Includes Dirt Monster, Tree Monster, Sand Monster, Stone Monster, Oerkki, Dungeon Master, and Wolf as well as Boar, Sheep, Chicken, Cow, Horses (all original varieties), and Rat and also Mese Monster and Lava Flan.
  • Mobs Redo [0.3] [mobs] giant spiders, bees,chicken, cows, sheep, warthog, rats, sand-, dirt-, stone-, tree-monsters, oerkki, dungeon masters, lava flan and mese monsters.
  • Not-so-simple-mobs [Not-so-simple-mobs] adds Dahaka, Chines Dragon, Mantis, Bacteriophage, Manticore, Pumpbomm, Pumpking, Werewolf, Crocodile, Sandworm, Standard Duck, Enderduck, Flying Duck, Swimming Duck and Spider Duck. Included are also weapons to deal with these monsters. (some code is based on mobf code)
  • NPC Framework (modpack) [minetest-npcf] adds non-player characters of the type Info, Deco, Guard, Trader and Builder.
  • Npcs for the NPC Framework Mod! [Npcpack01] Add-on for the NPC Framework, adds non-player characters of the type Goku and Vegeta from Dragon Ball Z.
  • Peaceful NPC [peaceful_npc] includes random non-player characters that follow you
  • Santa! [santa] adds a Santa that drops coal

Other mods (without mobs)

  • Mob API [mobapi] provides the basic API of Simple Mobs without the mobs.
  • Mob Catching Ball [mccarball] A spherical device that, when placed next to a mob, captures and contains said mob. The player can then store it in their inventory. By placing the device somewhere the mob can be releaseed again.
  • Nether [nether] The forum page includes a link to a lawyer mob that runs if the simple mobs mod by PilzAdam is run.
  • Mob Spawner [mobspawn] Adds spawners for several mob mods such as mobs, carbone_mobs, mobf, creatures, zmobs and more to come.
