Silver Sand can be found in cold biomes in the form of so-called cold deserts and also may sometimes appear in the underground in in small blobs enclosed by stone. Dry Shrubs can sometimes be found in these cold deserts. Silver sand falls down if a passable node like air is underneath it. It can be mined by a shovel, but the hand also works, but much slower. Silver sand can be smelted into Glass and crafted into Silver Sandstone.

There are no cold deserts in the v6 mapgen, so in v6, silver sand may only be found in the underground.
