Mushroom spores were removed with Minetest version 0.4.14.
In older versions, Brown Mushroom Spores could be obtained by chance by mining a brown mushroom.
Brown mushroom spores can be placed anywhere, but only will grow on Dirt (no matter if with grass, snow or if cultivated or not), from which they will grow into a brown mushroom eventually. Brown mushrooms prefer to grow in dark places.
