A Brown Mushroom is an edible fungus found in forests.
In most map generators it can be found in deciduous forests, coniferous forests and rainforests (→Biomes). It occurs on dirt with grass and occasionally on fallen Tree, Aspen Tree and Jungle Tree logs. In rainforests, it only occurs on fallen jungle trees, never on the floor. In the v6 mapgen, brown mushrooms only occur next to a Tree on dirt with grass.
Brown mushrooms will spread slowly over time on Dirt, Dirt with Grass, etc. and on “trunk” blocks (Tree, Jungle Tree, etc.), in complete or almost complete darkness. They will eventually die off in direct sunlight.
