TNT is a block which, when ignited, violently explodes after 4 seconds. This explosion destroys nearby blocks and damages anyone who is careless enough to stand near the TNT.
Once ignited, burning TNT is subject to gravity and emits a small amount of light.
After exploding, a single TNT destroys an area of up to 5×5×5 blocks, where the inner 3×3×3 blocks are definitely destroyed and the rest of the blocks are destroyed with a chance of 80%. With a small chance, blocks may drop as items on the ground. Also, the explosion may generate some fire. The explosion becomes stronger if multiple TNTs are placed nearby and are ignited; all the TNTs are destroyed at once then. At the center of the explosion, the special block “TNT Explosion” appears, a short-lived block which emits a lot of light.
Some blocks may react differently to TNT explosions. See Category:Explosion-proof for a list of blocks which are immune to explosions.
TNT can be ignited manually by punching it with a torch. TNT can be also ignited by nearby fire or burning gun powder.
Configuration
In minetest.conf, you can customize how the TNT works or even remove it from the game.
enable_tnt
: Set tofalse
to remove TNT from the game and set totrue
to keep it. By default, TNT is not available in multiplayer games but it is available in singleplayer games. To enable it for multiplayer games, you have to set this variable explicitly totrue
tnt_radius
: The side length of the inner part of the cubic TNT explosion. This is 3 by default
