Minetestは、InfiniMinerやMinecraftなどに影響を受けたボクセルゲームを作成するために作られた自由ソフトウエアのゲームエンジンです。Perttu Ahola(別名「celeron55」)によって作り始められました。

Minetest上で動くそれぞれのGameの基本アイデアは、ほぼ共通しています。プレーヤーはブロックで構成された巨大なWorldに放り込まれます。ブロックは風景を作り出していて、このブロックを自由に壊したり、配置したりできます。アイテムを集めて、新しい道具やアイテムをクラフトすることもできます。ですが、MinetestのGameは、これよりもはるかに複雑になっています。
